Volunteer Opportunities

Want to volunteer your time and help make the 2010 Pond Hockey North American Championships a success? Then you've come to the right place. With over 200 volunteer shifts needed to get the show on the road (or as we say, to get the ice on the pond), we're thrilled to have your help.

There are many ways to help out at this year's tournament:

Tournament Site Operations (Indoors):

This is a great opportunity to stay in-doors, listen to music and help run the show inside the Warming Tent during the tournament.

Tournament Site Operations (Outdoors):

If you love Minnesota winters and want to get a spot close to the tournament action, this opportunity is for you.

We need help post event with take down-here are the steps

Step 1. If you are available and want to help us take down boards on January 29th, bring a cordless drill, a 1/2 bore bit, and a regular and #2 Phillips head -  we need to unscrew the brace, put the screws in a bag [there are two screws per brace],  and have another person knock the brace off the board and stack them to the side of the rink.  This operation will take 5 minutes per brace and if we have 23 people on one side of the boards, one rink will be disassembled in 20 minutes. 3 hours to dissasemble total.

Step 2.  We plan on stacking all the boards and doing a final pick up during the week following. We will load the boards into pick up trucks and haul them to our storage area 5 minutes away.  Let me know if you can bring yourself, and if possible a Drill. Thanks very much.

Our Volunteer Coordinator Sheila Loving can answer any questions you may have by e mail. Contact sheila at sheilaloving@mchsi.com and be prepared to come out to the Pond for some great times.

Pre-Tournament Set-up (Outdoors):   COMPLETED ! !

Thanks very much TO ALL THAT HELPED OUR SET UP. AMAZING PERFORMANCE, GREAT JOB!

Get out on the ice the week leading up to the tournament and use your pond passion and elbow grease to get those rinks ready for the players.

If you are available and want to help us set up boards on January 8th,9th , bring a cordless drill, a 1/2 bore bit, and a regular and #2 Phillips head - we have the boards countersunk and pre drilled so we need a guy on one side holding the brace and the guy on the other side setting the screws [two holes per brace] then the bore bit goes through a pre drilled hole the brace into the ice. a 3/4" aluminum pin slides through the hole into the ice and stabilizes the board. This operation will take 5 minutes per brace and if we have 12 guys on one side of the boards and 12 on the other we can have one rink set up in 20 minutes. Let me know if you can bring yourself, and Drill.
